Pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie shared a deeply personal message on April 1, honoring the life of his late son, Christopher David Laurie, on what would have been his birthday, while pointing to the enduring hope found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

While April 1 is widely recognized as April Fools' Day, Laurie noted that for his family the date carries a far more profound meaning. It marks the birthday of their oldest son, Christopher, a day that was once filled with celebration but became one of deep sorrow after his passing 16 years ago at the age of 33.

"For years, watching him grow up, it was a happy day of celebration," Laurie wrote. "After he was called unexpectedly home to Heaven 16 years ago, it became an inexpressibly sad day."

Over time, however, Laurie said the grief has softened, even as the memory remains constant. He shared that the family continues to think about Christopher daily, expressing gratitude for the years they had with him and the faith that sustains them.

"We thank God Christopher David Laurie was with us for 33 years, and we also thank God that we will see him again," he wrote.

Laurie connected his personal reflection to the broader message of Holy Week, emphasizing the significance of Good Friday and Easter for believers. He said the resurrection of Jesus Christ provides assurance that death is not the end, but a doorway to eternal life.

"That is what this week... is all about," Laurie explained. "We are reminded that death died when Christ rose."

He added that just as the disciples encountered Jesus after His crucifixion, Christians who place their faith in Him can hold onto the promise of reunion with loved ones who have died in faith.

Christopher David Laurie was born on April 1, 1975, and died on July 24, 2008. Over the years, Laurie has spoken openly about his son's life and legacy, often sharing how his faith in Christ has shaped the family's perspective on loss and eternity.

The message resonated with many across social media, as Laurie concluded with a heartfelt tribute: "Happy Birthday, Christopher. We miss you so much! But we will see you again."
