We Are Messengers is having a big 2026 - and the best is still ahead.
The Irish-born, Nashville-based Christian rock band led by frontman Darren Mulligan has confirmed their fifth studio album, Halfway Home, is set to arrive in September 2026. Australia and New Zealand were the first in the world to hear songs from the upcoming record, as Mulligan revealed the album announcement during the band's sold-out return tour Down Under.
The album title alone feels like a mission statement. For a band that has built its entire identity around reaching broken, hurting, and searching people, Halfway Home signals a journey still in progress - for the listener and the artist alike.
The announcement comes on the heels of a strong year of momentum. Their latest single "Faith Hope Love" - their first release of 2026 - follows their chart-topping holiday single "We Three Kings," which became the first single in two decades to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart, and the first Christmas single ever to achieve that milestone.
Mulligan described the direction behind their new music as a return to the band's roots: "We kind of felt like going back to the start, when we didn't care what people thought about us. We believe it's a time to tell the truth and speak the truth of the gospel - but to do that in kindness and in love."
The band is also currently on the road. We Are Messengers is co-headlining the "Hope Nights" spring tour alongside Danny Gokey, with special guest Jon Reddick - one of the year's most anticipated Christian music touring packages.
Mulligan has been candid about the personal cost of the calling, saying: "God has called us to a life travelling to the ends of the Earth, telling people about the good news of Jesus. There's a cost to that. But anyone who told you that following Jesus wasn't going to hurt, is a liar - it's a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things."
With a No. 1 chart record, sold-out international dates, and a new album on the horizon, We Are Messengers are moving with rare momentum in Christian music right now. Halfway Home is shaping up to be worth the wait.
