Acclaimed worship leader and songwriter Brooke Ligertwood has unveiled "Though War Break Out Against Me," the third single from her forthcoming album EAT, marking a significant thematic shift as the project now turns to the Psalms for its lyrical and spiritual foundation.

Following the release of "Even Death on a Cross!"-drawn from Epistle to the Philippians 2:6-11-and "The Water," inspired by Book of Jeremiah 17:7-8, this latest offering anchors itself in Psalm 27. The song forms the first part of a two-track journey through the psalm, focusing on verses 1-6 and capturing what Ligertwood describes as a prayer forged in the tension of opposition, fear, and unwavering trust.
Rooted in the voice of David, "Though War Break Out Against Me" brings to life one of Scripture's most enduring declarations of confidence in God amid crisis. The track leans into the psalm's central confession-that even in the face of war, danger, and uncertainty, the believer's posture remains one of trust: "though war break out against me, even then I will be confident."
Ligertwood frames the project's exploration of Psalm 27 as unfolding across two distinct yet interconnected movements. The forthcoming companion track, "In the Land of the Living," will complete the narrative arc by drawing from verses 7-14. Together, the titles form a unified declaration: "Though war break out against me in the land of the living." The second installment is set to arrive alongside the full EAT album on May 15.
With EAT, Ligertwood continues her pattern of deeply scriptural songwriting, weaving together texts from across the biblical canon into a cohesive worship experience. Where earlier singles engaged the theological depth of the New Testament and prophetic imagery of the Old, this latest release embraces the poetic and devotional language of the Psalms-inviting listeners into a more personal, prayerful response.
"Though War Break Out Against Me" is now available on all major streaming platforms. The full album EAT is available for pre-save ahead of its May 15 release.
