If you missed the surprise drop, here's what happened: On April 11, Hulvey released COULD BE TONIGHT - his third and final album with Reach Records - with no advance press, no promo rollout, and a pay-what-you-want option so nobody had an excuse not to listen. The logic was spiritual: Jesus returns unannounced, so the album should too.
The 20-track project, executive produced by xander., is already being called the most transparent thing Hulvey has ever made. But it's one specific track - "INFLUENCER$" - that has people talking outside the Christian hip-hop bubble.
"I made this album to get you ready for the return of The King. I didn't realize the one to get ready was actually me. Today is Tonight." - Hulvey, on COULD BE TONIGHT
On "INFLUENCER$," Hulvey confirms he was personally invited to write with Ye (Kanye West) earlier this year - and he turned it down. Not as a clapback. Not for clout. He went on record about it specifically because of what he believes accountability and influence actually cost. The track is backed by a short film called Field of Flowers, which ends with a haunting visual nod to Matthew 24:40 - a figure suddenly disappearing from a desolate landscape. The rapture, rendered without warning.
The album's opener sets the tone immediately. On "HE WILL RETURN," Hulvey opens by confessing he may have put his rap career above his faith - and the next nineteen tracks are his answer to that. Nothing gets tied up neatly. That rawness is the point.
The collaborator list is equally intentional: DC3, Torey D'Shaun, nobigdyl., Kijan Boone, and Canadian rapper Connor Price - who is not from the Christian rap world but brings genuine alignment, rapping about following Scripture over astrology on "AUTOMATIC." Hulvey's own brother DREW. closes out "SPEECHLESS" with a verse about seeing God work through shared pain.
The momentum behind this release is real. Hulvey's 2025 single "Altar" crossed 150 million streams, peaked at No. 25 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart, and earned an RIAA Gold certification. He also took home the GMA Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year. A 33-city North American tour with indie tribe and Kijan Boone is now on the horizon.
As for what comes after Reach Records - Hulvey has said he's seeking God on the next chapter. For an artist who just made an album about being ready for what comes without warning, that answer feels exactly right.
COULD BE TONIGHT is available now on all major streaming platforms via Reach Records.
