Contemporary worship leader Mack Brock is reflecting on a full-circle moment after touring across Canada with longtime worship pioneer Paul Baloche - the songwriter whose music helped shape Brock's earliest days in ministry.
In a heartfelt social media post, Brock shared that when he was just 16 years old leading worship at his father's church in South Carolina, he only knew a handful of worship songs - including Baloche's iconic anthem "Open the Eyes of My Heart."
"I didn't know who Paul Baloche was... I didn't really know who anybody was," Brock wrote. "But I just wanted to keep singing 'holy holy holy, I want to see you' over and over."
Now years later, Brock says touring alongside Baloche has felt like "such a sweet gift" from the Lord. He praised the tour experience, the band, crew, and fellowship behind the scenes, calling the entire season deeply refreshing spiritually and personally.
The moment resonates strongly for many worship music fans because both artists have played major roles in modern church worship across different generations. Baloche became widely known through songs such as "Open the Eyes of My Heart," "Hosanna," and "Your Name," while Brock rose to prominence through Elevation Worship before launching a successful solo ministry featuring songs like "Greater Things" and "Bless the Lord."
Brock's reflection also highlights how influential worship songs often become formative spiritual memories for young church musicians long before they ever meet the people who wrote them.
For Brock, what began as a teenager repeatedly singing "holy holy holy, I want to see You" in youth group has now come full circle into sharing a stage with one of the worship leaders who helped inspire that journey in the first place.
