Christian singer-songwriter Josh Wilson is no stranger to honest songwriting - but his latest release may be his most personal yet.
On May 29, Wilson released "How Loved You Are," the lead single from his upcoming full-length album of the same name, alongside a vulnerable message to fans revealing the song came from one of the darkest seasons of his life.
"A few years ago, I was in a deep pit of depression," Wilson shared on Facebook. "By the grace of God and the help of my friends, family, doctors, counselors, and church, I'm still here."
The track was co-written with Benjamin Cowart and Jordan Mohilowski, produced and mixed by Kyle Schonewill, and features a choir arranged by Jason Eskridge - with Kiley Phillips, Nickie Conley, and Wil Merrell lending their voices to the recording.
The project was made possible by 298 Kickstarter backers who pledged over $61,000 - a community effort that Wilson says he couldn't have done without.
"If you can't feel it or believe it right now, I hope the words of this song can remind you how loved you are," Wilson wrote.
The album follows his previous record Mental Help and continues Wilson's mission of turning personal pain into music that points people back to God's grace.
