The Michael Jackson biopic is still making history - and now it's heading home.

Entering its seventh weekend in theaters, Michael has hit a cumulative global total of over $854 million - surpassing the lifetime grosses of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 to officially become the highest-grossing film in Lionsgate history.

Since its April 24 opening, the film has earned nearly $850 million globally, making it the second-highest-grossing music biopic ever released, putting it within striking distance of Bohemian Rhapsody, which remains the genre's all-time box office champion.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson as his uncle, Michael will be available for purchase on video-on-demand streaming services on June 9 for $24.99. A physical release on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD will follow on July 14.

A sequel is already in development, with Lionsgate and the film's creative team in early discussions about continuing the story of Jackson's life.

The story of a man whose gifts carried him to the top of the world - and the family of prayer behind him - remains worth revisiting, whether in theaters or at home.
