CeCe Winans is proving once again why she remains the undisputed queen of contemporary gospel music.
According to Billboard's latest chart rankings, Winans' new album The Hymns has debuted at No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart, marking the 12th No. 1 album of her career. That achievement places her second on the all-time list in the chart's 43-year history, trailing only gospel powerhouse Kirk Franklin.
The milestone adds another chapter to a remarkable career that has already produced multiple Grammy Awards, chart-topping albums, and some of the most beloved songs in gospel music. Winans has dominated the genre in recent years with projects such as Believe for It and More Than This, both of which also debuted at No. 1 on the gospel charts.
Released earlier this month, The Hymns takes a different approach than many modern worship albums. The 16-track collection features classic hymns such as "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," "It Is Well," and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," presented with simple piano accompaniment and Winans' signature vocals. The project was created as a tribute to the timeless songs that have shaped generations of Christian worship.
The success of The Hymns also continues a remarkable run for Winans. In recent years she has been named Billboard's top gospel artist and has remained one of the most influential voices in Christian music.
For an artist whose career spans more than three decades, the latest chart triumph shows that CeCe Winans isn't slowing down anytime soon-she's still setting the standard.
