Tennessee Volunteers running back DeSean Bishop isn't just making headlines for his breakout football career-he's capturing hearts with an unapologetic declaration that all of his success belongs to Jesus Christ.
The rising SEC star turned what many expected to be a routine football press conference into a powerful testimony, opening SEC Media Days by boldly giving "all glory" to his Lord and Savior before a single football question was even asked.
"I want to give all glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," Bishop declared. "I wouldn't be up here without Him. He's been the difference in my life."
His passionate remarks immediately caught the room's attention, with one reporter responding, "Amen to that!"
But Bishop didn't stop there.
The 21-year-old running back, who exploded onto the scene with 1,076 rushing yards last season, urged anyone searching for hope to pursue a relationship with Christ, insisting that knowing Jesus "makes the difference in everything you do."
While many fans know Bishop as one of Tennessee's biggest offensive weapons, few know the incredible journey that brought him there.
Despite piling up more than 8,300 rushing yards and an astonishing 102 touchdowns during his high school career, Bishop received just two scholarship offers from smaller schools. Instead of walking away from his dream, he joined Tennessee as a walk-on-a decision that initially left him frustrated.
Today, however, Bishop says every disappointment was part of God's perfect plan.
"What really irritated me" at the time, he explained, was ultimately God's way of preparing him for something greater. Looking back, he says the Lord has "worked wonders" in his life.
Throughout the media session, Bishop consistently redirected praise away from himself. Asked about his football vision and instincts, he humbly replied that his gift had been "handed to me from above," while also acknowledging countless hours of film study, hard work, and the support of his teammates.
In an even more emotional interview, Bishop revealed that his faith didn't simply improve his football career-it completely transformed his life.
"My Lord and Savior has treated me very good-more than I honestly deserve," he said. "By God's grace and salvation, He saved me from a really dark place... a path of destruction."
Bishop said everything he now enjoys-from football success to the platform he's been given-came after Christ changed the direction of his life.
"When God swooped in and saved my life, it came with all this that I've received now," he shared.
The Tennessee standout then offered a heartfelt invitation to those watching.
"If you are out there and don't know much about Him, I encourage you to at least try to find a relationship with Him, because it will change your life for the better."
He later doubled down on social media, reposting the interview with the bold message: "Praise Christ. He truly is the way!"
With NFL Draft buzz already surrounding the Volunteers star and expectations soaring for Tennessee's upcoming season, Bishop insists his greatest victory isn't measured in rushing yards or touchdowns.
Instead, he says there's only one thing that truly satisfies.
"There's a lot of things you look for to try to satisfy you in this life," Bishop said. "But only one thing can, and that's your Lord and Savior."
As his football career continues to soar, DeSean Bishop is making one thing abundantly clear-his biggest mission isn't just winning games, it's pointing people to Jesus.
