Megan Moroney's Cloud 9 Tour hit an unexpected pause Tuesday night when the country star was forced to end her Denver concert early due to illness, just three songs into the setlist.
The 28-year-old performed "Stupid," "Medicine," and "Bless Your Heart" at Ball Arena before exiting the stage. When she returned, visibly emotional, she told the crowd she couldn't continue. Ball Arena confirmed the news in a statement shortly after: "Megan is unable to continue her performance this evening due to illness, and we must end the show at this time."
Moroney later posted a tearful message to Instagram Stories, explaining her decision in her own words. "That was the hardest decision I've ever had to make & I'm so sorry to have to cancel the show tonight," she wrote. "I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and by song 3 I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you guys tonight." She added that she was "quite literally bawling my eyes out" in her dressing room, saying, "it hurts me so much to disappoint you all."
The Georgia native did not disclose details of her illness. The Denver stop has been rescheduled for August 27, with all original tickets honored for the new date and refunds available for fans who can't attend. Moroney's tour, in support of her chart-topping third album "Cloud 9," continues this weekend in Portland, Oregon.
