Six months into the search for Nancy Guthrie, investigators appear to be back at the scene. A neighbor in the Catalina Foothills told Fox News Digital she saw FBI agents return to search the desert brush behind Guthrie's Tucson home just days before the case reached its six-month mark without an arrest.
The neighbor, who lives a few doors down, said she recognized faces from earlier law enforcement activity connected to the case combing through the brush near the property. A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff's Department said no task force investigators had returned to the area recently, leaving some uncertainty over the exact nature of the activity. The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The report comes amid speculation that Arizona's monsoon season, which brings heavy seasonal rainfall, may have shifted terrain or exposed evidence that wasn't visible when the area was first searched earlier this year. Former SWAT commander Bob Krygier weighed in on the development, though authorities have not confirmed what, if anything, was found during this latest pass.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital last week that investigators are still actively following up on leads and reviewing tens of thousands of hours of video, adding that he does not consider the case cold. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing from her Tucson home on February 1 after failing to appear for an online church service the previous morning. Her daughter, "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has continued to publicly appeal for information.
