Tyler Hubbard may be best known for helping turn Florida Georgia Line into one of country music's biggest acts, but these days, some of the most meaningful conversations happening in his home aren't about hit songs or sold-out shows.
They're about Jesus.
The 39-year-old country star has opened up about how The Chosen has become something of a family tradition-and he says the hit biblical drama has helped make the stories of Scripture come alive for his children in a way that has surprised even him.
Now that family connection has spilled over into Hubbard's music.
The former Florida Georgia Line singer has recorded the faith-centered new song "All I Need Is You," which will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming sixth season of The Chosen.
For Hubbard, the collaboration isn't simply another soundtrack placement.
He says it's personal.
'It's Really Opened Up Our Kids' Eyes to the Gospel'
Speaking with Fox News Digital, Hubbard revealed that watching The Chosen together has sparked "a lot of conversations about Jesus" in his household.
More importantly, he says his children are actually remembering what they see.
"We talk through all these stories, we talk through all their questions, but then it doesn't go in one ear and out the other," Hubbard explained. "It really kind of sticks."
Sometimes, Hubbard said, the payoff doesn't become apparent until much later.
"It could be two years down the road, we'll be reading a Bible story and they'll already know it," he said. "They're kind of teaching us or teaching their friends at that point."
For the country star, that has made watching the series about much more than family entertainment.
Hubbard said The Chosen has "really opened up our kids' eyes to the gospel and to Jesus and how he lived."
From Florida Georgia Line Superstar to a Song About Faith
The connection is particularly fitting considering Hubbard's musical roots.
Long before Florida Georgia Line exploded onto the country scene with monster hits such as "Cruise," Hubbard was singing a very different kind of music.
He was leading worship at church.
So when a friend approached him with the possibility of writing something for The Chosen, Hubbard jumped at the opportunity.
"I was excited about the opportunity," he recalled.
Hubbard said returning to explicitly faith-based songwriting gave him an opportunity to create something with "some meat on the bone"-a song carrying deeper meaning, heart and truth.
The writing session ultimately produced "All I Need Is You."
And The Chosen team liked what they heard.
The song was released Aug. 7 as the first single from an upcoming album inspired by the series. The project, from 5&2 Studios and Capitol Christian Music Group, is expected this fall, while Hubbard's track is set to appear on the soundtrack for Season 6.
For Hubbard, the unexpected collaboration represents something of a full-circle moment: the kid who once led worship in church went on to become half of one of the biggest country duos of his generation-and is now recording music inspired by the story of Jesus.
Faith Has Long Been Part of Hubbard's Story
Hubbard shot to superstardom alongside Brian Kelley as Florida Georgia Line, whose genre-blurring brand of country produced a string of massive hits and helped define the "bro-country" era.
Since the duo went on hiatus, Hubbard has established himself as a solo artist.
But his comments about The Chosen reveal another side of the country hitmaker-dad.
Rather than simply telling his children biblical stories, Hubbard says the family can watch them dramatized and then return to Scripture together to discuss what they have seen.
For a father trying to pass his faith on to the next generation, that's what appears to matter most.
And now, when Hubbard's kids tune in to the next season of The Chosen, they may hear a particularly familiar voice on the soundtrack.
