Hours after revealing he'd hidden a heart condition through an entire tour, NBA YoungBoy shared another surprise from the same interview - he has relocated to South Korea and has no plans of ever moving back to the United States.
Comedian and interviewer Funny Marco traveled to South Korea for his first trip outside the U.S. to sit down with the rapper for his "Open Thoughts" series, released Tuesday. When Marco asked if he'd ever consider returning to live in America, YoungBoy didn't hesitate. "Never in life. Never," he said. "There's nothing there for me, nothing else there for me at all." Asked about his children back home, he added, "The most important thing is my kids, but that's what they got kids for" - signaling the decision is about his own life, not a break from fatherhood.
The Baton Rouge native, born Kentrell Gaulden, said the country's pace and atmosphere have given him something he wasn't finding at home. "It's very safe here and very clean," he said, adding that he likes South Korea because it's "out the way." He did leave the door open to visiting the U.S. as a tourist in the future.
The move follows a stretch of upheaval for the rapper, including a federal weapons charge that ended in a pardon and, as JubileeCast reported earlier today, a swollen heart diagnosis he kept secret through an entire tour. He said he's working on a new album, "All Dogs Go to Heaven," which he hopes to release before his 27th birthday this October - a title that echoes the same reflective, faith-tinged themes he's touched on before in songs like "Pray to the Lord."
