Country star Colt Ford has survived another terrifying brush with disaster, suffering a broken shoulder after his tour bus crashed into a ditch while he was apparently on his way to Germany.
And considering everything Ford has already survived, the latest accident is especially unsettling.
Ford revealed the news on Wednesday, August 12, sharing a startling photo of the wrecked bus sitting in heavy foliage with its windshield smashed out. According to Ford, first responders actually had to pull him from the vehicle through the windshield.
"One minute you're headed to Germany for a show and prepping for single release," Ford wrote, before explaining that the next thing he knew, the bus was in a ditch and rescuers were pulling him out with a broken shoulder.
"The crew is a little banged up but we're all still here," he added.
That last sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
The cause and exact location of the crash have not yet been publicly confirmed. Photos from the scene show extensive damage to the front and passenger side of the bus, with the windshield missing.
The accident comes at a particularly unfortunate moment for Ford. The country rapper was preparing to release a new single, "Fake Redneck," while also heading overseas for a scheduled appearance at Tailgate X in Ballenstedt, Germany. His concert listing still shows him scheduled to perform Saturday, August 15, with another date at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on August 19. As of the initial reports, there was no confirmation that either appearance had been canceled.
But the bus crash becomes even more dramatic when placed alongside what Ford has endured over the past two years.
In April 2024, Ford suffered a massive heart attack following a performance at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row in Arizona. Ford has subsequently said that he clinically died three times during the medical emergency and was given an extraordinarily slim chance of survival. He eventually recovered and returned to touring in 2025.
Ford has also spoken openly about how difficult getting back onto a tour bus was after that ordeal. In a previous interview, he described experiencing anxiety when boarding the bus because the last time he had been aboard one during his heart attack, his bandmates had carried him off in critical condition.
Now, incredibly, Ford has another traumatic bus-related experience to process.
There is also an emotional Toby Keith connection to Ford's survival story. Ford previously claimed that while fighting for his life following the 2024 heart attack, he had an extraordinary experience involving his late friend. According to Ford, he saw Toby Keith emerge from a bright light and tell him, "They're not ready for you," before Ford regained consciousness.
Whether fans interpret that experience literally or as something Ford encountered while critically ill, the story has become part of his remarkable comeback narrative.
And now that comeback has hit another painful detour.
Messages of support quickly poured in following Wednesday's crash. Country artists including George Birge, LOCASH and Meghan Patrick were among those responding publicly. Patrick noted how much Ford has already endured and said that she and Mitchell Tenpenny were praying for him.
Ford, best known for co-writing the Jason Aldean smash "Dirt Road Anthem," has spent years carving out his own country-rap lane while collaborating with numerous Nashville stars.
For the moment, though, the new music and tour schedule seem secondary.
Two years after surviving a heart attack that nearly killed him, Colt Ford has now walked-or, more accurately, been pulled through a windshield-away from another frightening ordeal.
And Ford himself summed up the good news better than anyone: they're all still here.
