Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton remains hospitalized in "serious but stable" condition and is expected to undergo surgery following the frightening livestream emergency that prompted police and paramedics to respond to his Florida home.
Hilton's team has released a sobering new update on the 48-year-old father of three, revealing that he suffered "significant blood loss" as well as "additional injuries" during the incident.
The latest statement makes clear that Hilton's ordeal is far from over.
"His treatment and recovery will be a long process," his team said, adding that surgery will be required to treat his injuries.
The update comes after Hilton reportedly harmed himself during a disturbing livestream that was quickly removed from TikTok. According to reports, the platform's moderation systems flagged the broadcast within minutes, after which its U.S. moderation team reviewed the content and alerted law enforcement.
Hilton remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act, which permits involuntary mental-health examination and treatment under specified circumstances.
His team is also pushing back against any reports or online speculation suggesting Hilton has personally spoken publicly since the emergency.
"His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care," the statement said. "He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements."
Meanwhile, Hilton's three children are reportedly safe and being cared for by immediate family members while their father receives treatment.
"Please allow them and the rest of the family the peace and privacy they desperately need during this incredibly difficult time," his team pleaded.
The new medical update follows an earlier statement from Hilton's family confirming that he was receiving treatment and thanking supporters for the enormous response of "love, support, and prayers."
"Our focus right now is on his well-being," the family said at the time.
Hilton, who became one of the internet's most recognizable celebrity-gossip personalities during the 2000s, has spent decades reporting on the private dramas, scandals and crises of Hollywood's biggest stars. Now, following an intensely public emergency of his own, attention has shifted away from celebrity gossip and toward his health, children and uncertain road to recovery.
For now, his representatives are asking the public to give Hilton and his family privacy as he remains hospitalized and prepares for surgery.
