Disney confirmed at the 2026 D23 Expo on August 14 that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2, reprising his Force-ghost role from Season 1's World Between Worlds arc. The news has sent the actor's name climbing search charts - and reignited interest in a lesser-known chapter of his story: his Christian faith.
Christensen, 45, first opened up about his beliefs while promoting the 2015 faith-based drama 90 Minutes in Heaven, in which he played Baptist minister Don Piper, a man who claimed to briefly glimpse heaven after a near-fatal car crash. Speaking with The Christian Post on the film's red carpet, Christensen said he spent significant time with the real Don Piper to prepare for the role, calling him "my beacon through this whole process." The film, produced by Family Christian Entertainment's Giving Films banner, pledged its profits to charity.
Christensen has said he grew up identifying as Christian, even though his parents were not especially religious - a background that gave him a personal connection to Piper's story beyond the script.
Off-screen, Christensen recently opened up about a different kind of faith: fatherhood. At D23, he told MTV UK he loves watching Disney and Nickelodeon shows with his 11-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, whom he shares with ex Rachel Bilson. He's previously said Briar served as his "first lightsaber training partner" while he prepped for Obi-Wan Kenobi.
With Ahsoka Season 2 expected later this year, fans will see Christensen's Anakin once more - a role that, for the actor, has always carried echoes of the deeper story he lived off-camera.
