Robbie Williams revealed this week that he has been diagnosed with autism, telling fans the discovery has helped him make sense of parts of himself that puzzled him for years. The 52-year-old singer shared the news during an August 13 Q&A in London at the launch of his Hopeium clothing line.

Williams, who has previously spoken about living with ADHD and Tourette's syndrome, said doctors recently confirmed he also has "a bit of autism." He described the diagnosis as clarifying, telling the crowd it "explains so much." Ever candid, Williams joked that it had become his "get-out-of-jail-free card" for his more eccentric moments, while also opening up more seriously about the intrusive thoughts and racing mind he's managed for years.

He explained that his ADHD lets him hyperfocus intensely on creative work, but makes nearly everything else difficult. "What I'm completely and utterly obsessed with is creating images and making funny things," he said, adding that immersing himself in creativity is how he quiets the noise in his head.

The revelation follows a pattern of unusual openness from Williams, who has spent decades speaking publicly about his mental health struggles and, in January, told The Independent it took him "nearly a couple of decades to fight through it" before reaching a healthier place. That same spirit of transparency, choosing to name a struggle rather than hide it, is one many in the faith community recognize as its own quiet act of courage.

Williams' latest album, Britpop, topped the UK charts earlier this year, and he has upcoming outdoor shows scheduled in the UK and Ireland for summer 2027.
