Bret Michaels has canceled all remaining shows on his 2026 tour, just one night after attempting a comeback performance following emergency kidney stone surgery.

The Poison frontman, 63, played a show Friday night at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia after taking several weeks off to recover from surgery for a complicated obstructing kidney stone. But according to a statement from Michaels Entertainment Group, "doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries." Michaels will now take "the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%."

His doctors, Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, said the decision was made out of caution given Michaels' Type 1 diabetes, which he has managed since childhood. "We feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels," they said in the statement. Michaels was scheduled to perform at the Mountain Music Festival the following day but has since withdrawn.

Michaels' company said it was disappointed to cancel the remaining dates, including private events, but is looking forward to his healthy return: "We now look ahead and to Bret being able to return healthy, strong and ready to rock."

Michaels has weathered serious health scares before, including a near-fatal brain hemorrhage in 2010.

Through it all, he has often credited prayer and faith in tougher seasons - a reminder that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16), even for those simply asking for strength to heal.
