The short answer: no. Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has not been found. She has now been missing for 257 days, and investigators have not identified a suspect or publicly confirmed her fate.
When did she disappear?
She was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on Jan. 31 and reported missing the following day. Authorities have treated it as a possible kidnapping, and doorbell camera footage showed a masked individual near the residence.
Was human remains found?
On Oct. 7, a bone fragment believed to be human was found in a wash near Vistoso Park and Innovation Park in Oro Valley, roughly 10 miles from Guthrie's home. Police said no other remains were located, and the fragment went to the Pima County medical examiner. Officials have not established any connection to the Guthrie investigation, and no findings have been released.
Are the ransom emails real?
Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer says she received four ransom emails in April. She believes they were fraudulent, in part because the bitcoin address did not match the one tied to notes investigators had considered potentially legitimate. Sheriff's officials have urged the public not to send money or personal information in response to unsolicited messages.
Is the case still active?
Yes. The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI say the investigation continues. The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward, and the FBI has offered up to $100,000. Officials have also cautioned the public about unverified claims circulating online.
The family continues to ask for prayers, and JubileeCast joins them in praying for Nancy's safe return.
