MercyMe has released their new single "Wake Up Sleeper," a rock-tinged anthem the K-LOVE Fan Award-winning band teased for weeks before its official Aug. 21 drop.
The band announced the release on social media alongside an official music video. "Our new single, 'Wake Up Sleeper,' is out everywhere now!!" the group wrote, sharing links to stream the track and watch the video.
Christian radio network K-LOVE gave fans an early listen the day before release, premiering the song during its "K-LOVE First" segment on Aug. 20. Early snippets shared by the band drew immediate excitement online, with one fan commenting simply, "It is on repeat."
The song's title echoes a well-known line from Ephesians 5:14: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you" - a verse that's long inspired Christian artists writing about spiritual renewal and being roused out of complacency.
"Wake Up Sleeper" marks MercyMe's latest release following a string of 2026 singles, including "Even If" and "Make It Well," the latter tied to the film I Can Only Imagine 2. The band continues to be one of contemporary Christian music's most consistent hitmakers, known for songs like "I Can Only Imagine," "Flawless," and "Greater."
"Wake Up Sleeper" is available now on all major streaming platforms.
