Ella Langley has reached her crowning moment: "Choosin' Texas" has spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, placing her behind only Mariah Carey on the chart's all-time leaderboard.
Carey's holiday juggernaut "All I Want for Christmas Is You" remains the only song to have accumulated more time at the summit, with 22 weeks at No. 1. Langley's 19-week reign ties Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus for the longest run ever among non-holiday songs.
That puts Langley ahead of some of the most dominant hits in music history, including Morgan Wallen's "Last Night," Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day," all of which spent 16 weeks at No. 1.
For a singer scoring her first Hot 100 leader, it is an almost unbelievable coronation. "Choosin' Texas" did not merely reach No. 1-it settled there long enough to become one of the biggest chart hits the United States has ever seen.
The song first claimed the summit in February and has continued to dominate streaming, sales and radio. During the latest tracking week, it generated 24.3 million official U.S. streams, reached 55.7 million radio listeners and sold another 7,000 copies.
"Choosin' Texas" has also spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, 16 weeks atop Digital Song Sales and a staggering 37 weeks at the summit of Hot Country Songs. It additionally rules the Songs of the Summer chart for a 12th week.
Langley is hardly surviving on one hit. "Be Her" remains in the Hot 100's top 10 at No. 10 after reaching No. 2, while her Morgan Wallen collaboration "I Can't Love You Anymore" sits at No. 6 after peaking at No. 4. That gives Langley three simultaneous top 10 singles.
Country music dominates the entire upper end of the chart this week. Stella Lefty's "Boston" jumps to No. 2, Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You" ranks at No. 3 and Morgan Wallen's "Been by Now" holds No. 4. Country songs therefore occupy all four of the Hot 100's leading positions.
But Langley wears the crown. At 19 weeks, she now stands on the highest tier beneath Mariah Carey-and one more week at No. 1 would allow "Choosin' Texas" to break away from "Old Town Road" and "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" as the longest-leading non-holiday hit in Hot 100 history.
Mariah may still have the ultimate crown, but Ella Langley is now closer than almost anyone has ever come.
