After 27 years of marriage, Natalie Grant and Bernie Herms are proving that one of Christian music's most enduring love stories still has plenty of romance left.
The Grammy-winning producer marked the couple's anniversary with an emotional tribute to his wife, calling Grant "the greatest gift of God" in his life. Herms said marrying the celebrated Christian singer changed everything and described her as evidence of God's generosity and love.
"Twenty-seven years ago today, the greatest gift of God to my life became my wife," he wrote. "You are my one person in this world."
Grant quickly returned the affection with her own romantic declaration. Because the couple married on August 27, 1999, their 27th anniversary landed on the 27th-what they affectionately called their "champagne anniversary."
"I'd still choose you every single time," Grant wrote beside her anniversary post.
Their marriage has survived the unusual pressures of building two major careers beneath the same roof. Grant became one of Christian music's most recognisable voices and a multiple Dove Award winner, while Herms developed into a Grammy-winning songwriter, composer and producer whose credits include work with Casting Crowns, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Kelly Clarkson, Barbra Streisand, Hillary Scott and his own famous wife.
The couple's relationship has also become a creative partnership. Herms has produced and written for Grant, accompanied her during live performances and joined her for special concert events. Their professional lives have become so intertwined that music fans often see them together onstage-Grant commanding the spotlight with her powerhouse voice while Herms quietly anchors the performance from the piano.
Away from the industry, they are parents to three daughters: twins Grace Ana and Isabella Noelle, born in 2007, and Sadie Rose, born in 2010. Grant has previously spoken candidly about their journey into parenthood, the tension between touring and family life and the frightening health emergency that nearly claimed Grace during a severe asthma attack.
Their glamorous anniversary messages therefore carry more history than a polished celebrity romance might suggest. Grant has previously described their years together as containing "ups, downs, messy, beautiful," while insisting that the relationship has continued to improve with time.
