Hayden Panettiere’s Ex Brian Hickerson Hid Barefoot Under Table During Wild Bar Arrest

A bizarre chapter from Brian Hickerson's troubled past has resurfaced following the heartbreaking death of his on-and-off girlfriend, Nashville star Hayden Panettiere-and the details sound almost too strange to be true.

Despite reports suggesting Hickerson was recently arrested, the incident actually occurred on August 2, 2025, at Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood. According to new reports, Hickerson allegedly entered the restaurant barefoot, behaved erratically and broke a drinking glass before throwing one of his shoes at another customer. He then reportedly hid underneath a table as staff attempted to remove him from the establishment.

Law-enforcement officers were eventually called, but Hickerson allegedly continued resisting efforts to get him out of the restaurant. He was ultimately taken outside and arrested. However, prosecutors later declined to pursue the case because there was insufficient evidence, and the restaurant reportedly did not permanently ban him.

The drama did not end there. Just four days later, Hickerson was arrested again and charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance. He entered a judicial diversion program requiring him to attend ten Narcotics Anonymous meetings, avoid drugs and alcohol, and stay out of further legal trouble. After providing proof that he had completed the program, the misdemeanor charge was dismissed in January 2026.

The resurfaced arrest has attracted fresh attention because Hickerson's turbulent relationship with Panettiere had already been marked by disturbing allegations. In 2021, he pleaded no contest to two felony counts of corporal injury involving the actress. He received a jail sentence, probation, domestic-violence classes and a protective order. His recent attempt to have those felony convictions reduced to misdemeanors was denied just days before Panettiere died.

Hickerson was also present at the South Carolina residence where Panettiere was found unresponsive on August 16, 2026. An autopsy reportedly found no evidence of trauma, and authorities have said there were no immediate signs of foul play. Her official cause of death remains under investigation, and Hickerson has not been charged in connection with it.

For fans still mourning the 36-year-old Heroes actress, the barefoot bar spectacle is another unsettling reminder of the chaos surrounding one of the most controversial relationships of her life. Yet it is important to separate confirmed facts from online speculation: Hickerson's Barney's Beanery arrest happened a year before Panettiere's death-not afterward-and the resulting case was never prosecuted.
