Gal Gadot's new Prime Video thriller, The Runner, has landed the worst Rotten Tomatoes score of her career, sitting at a brutal 9% from critics as of publication.
Directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland) and released globally on Sept. 2, The Runner stars Gadot as Maia Marten, a London attorney whose son is abducted during her morning run. To save him, she must follow a mysterious caller's ruthless instructions - keep moving, tell no one, or he dies.
The 9% score puts The Runner below every other film in Gadot's catalog, including Snow White (39%), Heart of Stone (31%), and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (28%). Her highest-rated film remains the original Wonder Woman at 93%.
Critics have been blunt. RogerEbert.com called it "the only exercise you'll get is in your mind running through the ways it makes no sense," while another reviewer described it as "an embarrassing career low for Gal Gadot." A few dissenting voices, including The Hollywood Reporter, praised its visceral energy, but they remain the exception.
Even critics who panned the film's execution acknowledged its emotional core: a mother's unrelenting love and willingness to sacrifice everything for her child. It's a theme that echoes far beyond Hollywood - a reminder that stories of selfless love, however imperfectly told, still strike a universal chord with audiences.
