Director Hamish Hamilton took home the trophy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special on night one of the 78th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held Saturday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Mariska Hargitay, who will host next week's Primetime Emmys, called her documentary about her late mother, actress Jayne Mansfield, one of the most personal projects of her career.
