Southern Gospel favorites The Hyssongs are marking three decades of music ministry with a major new chapter. The award-winning family group will release its Horizon Records debut album, We've Got a Song to Sing, on October 30.
Produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Jeff Collins, the 11-song collection promises to showcase everything listeners have come to love about the Maine-based trio: soaring family harmonies, bright brass, lush strings, cinematic arrangements and an unwavering message of faith.
"As our family celebrates 30 years of singing gospel music, we are thrilled to release our new album, We've Got a Song to Sing," The Hyssongs shared. "We are excited to be with the Crossroads family of artists and to work with legendary GRAMMY-nominated producer Jeff Collins."
The album arrives as The Hyssongs' Horizon Records debut single, "Good News Savior," continues climbing the Singing News Southern Gospel Chart. Offering a hopeful answer to today's relentless cycle of troubling headlines, the song points listeners back to the good news found in Jesus Christ.
Faith, resilience and perseverance run through the entire album. Among its highlights is "Worship Medley," which introduces young Makayla Hyssong as a soloist while bringing together beloved worship songs familiar to churches and audiences.
Other standout selections include "I'm Glad I Know Jesus" and "It's Not Over Yet," two songs Richard Hyssong believes capture the project's central message.
"Each song selected seems to have the theme of not giving up," Richard explained. "All of us go through tough times, but I love the songs 'I'm Glad I Know Jesus' and 'It's Not Over Yet.' They remind us that no matter how hard life may seem, God is with us during those difficult times in our lives. Just wait and watch for God to step in."
The album closes with its jubilant title track, "A Song to Sing." Driven by jazz-inflected brass and the harmonies of Richard, Dell and Kelly Hyssong, the song declares that life's unexpected turns can never silence the believer's praise. Whatever the circumstances, there is always a reason to remember what God has done-and always a song to sing.
After 30 years on the road, The Hyssongs are showing no signs of slowing down.
"We have sung many songs in the last 30 years," Richard said. "However, we feel like we have just begun-and We've Got a Song to Sing."
We've Got a Song to Sing will be released through Horizon Records on October 30.
