A viral claim about a pink tablet allegedly tied to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance has spread rapidly across true-crime social media this week - but the Pima County Sheriff's Department says it has no record of any such item being reported stolen from the case.
The claim originated from a YouTube channel, A.J.DoubleU News, which posted an interview with an unnamed Tucson woman who said she paid $10 for a pink tablet from a man she described only as living near Speedway Boulevard and Alvernon Way. According to her account, law enforcement approached her shortly after she connected the device to Wi-Fi and told her it had come from Nancy's property, then confiscated the tablet along with her backpack and other belongings.
None of this has been independently verified. When a true-crime account on X directly asked PCSD about the claim, the department's response was pointed: "There has been no mention of a stolen iPad during this investigation." The department reiterated that the case remains active and that it continues working closely with the FBI, adding that any updates would come through its official social media channels.
The claim surfaces as Nancy's case passes the seven-month mark with no suspect publicly named. It also comes the same week "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie made a rare, emotional reference to her mother while discussing her family's Irish heritage ahead of the show's upcoming Ireland broadcasts - a moment that drew its own wave of attention online.
