Patrick Clancy, the father whose three children were killed by their mother, Lindsay Clancy, in January 2023, gave his first interview since her trial in a segment that aired on 60 Minutes Sunday night - and it's now one of the most searched stories in the country.
Speaking to CBS's Ross Douthat, Clancy described the months leading up to the tragedy, when his wife, a labor and delivery nurse, battled undiagnosed postpartum depression and psychosis after the birth of their third child, Callan.
Despite emergency room visits and two psychiatric hospital stays, Clancy said he had no way of knowing how severe her condition had become. "Mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive," he said.
On January 24, 2023, Lindsay strangled their children, Cora and Dawson, in the family's Duxbury, Massachusetts home. Callan survived four days on life support before he died in his father's arms.
Lindsay's July 2026 trial ended in a hung jury; she remains hospitalized while prosecutors decide whether to retry her.
Clancy told CBS he has forgiven Lindsay, calling public portrayals of her as a "monster" inaccurate and attributing her actions to illness, not intent.
He also addressed online conspiracy theories accusing him of involvement, calling the harassment "a huge distraction from what really matters here, which is perinatal mental health."
The interview also touched on Clancy's remarriage this year to Dr. Rachel Danis, and how he has leaned on faith and quiet ritual - including lighting a candle for Callan at St. Patrick's Cathedral - to carry grief that, he says, never fully lifts. "I can grieve," he said of that moment. "This is where I need to be."
