Tom Cruise thinks Taylor Swift has a future behind the camera - and he'd like to be part of it.
At the London world premiere of his new film "Digger" on Tuesday, Cruise was asked by BuzzFeed UK whether he'd star in a Swift music video if she ever asked. He didn't rule it out, but redirected the conversation toward something bigger. "I make movies, you know, let's go make a movie," Cruise said, before praising Swift's existing work directing her own videos and calling her "absolutely brilliant."
He went further, suggesting Swift is ready for the next step in her career: "If she ever decided to direct, she could be a director of feature films," Cruise said.
The comments land at a fitting moment for Swift, who releases her new single "Patient Zero" on September 25 and is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honours at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 27 - recognition for a directing résumé that already includes more than 15 music videos and four Best Director wins. A feature directorial debut for Searchlight Pictures has been rumored since 2022, though Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour reportedly pushed those plans back.
Cruise, for his part, was among the guests at Swift and Travis Kelce's July wedding. His new film "Digger," directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, doubled its London premiere as the Royal Film Performance, drawing Prince William and Princess Catherine before its October 2 U.S. release.
