A retired FBI agent says a "Today" show segment filmed in Tucson may have played a role in Nancy Guthrie's abduction. The theory is that of one former agent, not something investigators have confirmed.
Steve Moore made the comments in an interview on "Brian Entin Investigates," published Sept. 28. When NewsNation's Brian Entin asked whether the segment could be a piece of the puzzle, Moore answered, "Yeah, I actually do."
What was the segment?
Savannah Guthrie visited her hometown of Tucson on Oct. 17, 2025, to film a segment for "Today." During the shoot she visited the University of Arizona and local spots, including a Mexican restaurant with her mother. The shoot aired on Nov. 5, just months before Nancy vanished on Feb. 1.
Why does the timing matter?
Moore said the segment could have drawn unwanted attention to Nancy, possibly helping someone learn her location or routine. He argued the timing seems too coincidental to ignore, though he allowed that it could be random. He said he would be surprised if the FBI weren't looking into it, because agents dislike coincidence.
What are the limits of this theory?
Moore also noted it would be hard for agents to track, since unless the person met Savannah or Nancy during filming, they would only have been watching it on TV. No suspect has been named, and authorities haven't said whether the segment is part of the investigation.
Nancy, 84, was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on Jan. 31. Her family has asked for prayers at every stage of this search, and JubileeCast continues to pray with them until she is found.
