Is "The Man with the Bag" Family-Friendly? PG Rating, Streaming Date and What Parents Should Know

Published: Oct 03, 2026 05:18 AM EDT

The film is rated PG for action and some suggestive references. It streams exclusively on Prime Video starting Dec. 2. That makes Arnold Schwarzenegger's Santa comedy a likely family-night pick, though parents of younger kids may want to preview it first.

What does the PG rating mean?

PG means parental guidance is suggested. The rating cites action and some suggestive references, so it is not a gentle cartoon for the youngest viewers.

Where can you watch it?

The film skips theaters. It arrives on Prime Video on Dec. 2, and Prime Video calls it a holiday heist comedy.

What is the story?

Santa's iconic red bag is stolen by a rogue elf, played by Awkwafina, and Santa recruits a thief from his "Naughty List," played by Alan Ritchson, to help get it back. Prime Video describes it as a story about second chances and unlikely friendships.

Why people are watching

It marks Schwarzenegger's first acting appearance in a film since 2019's "Terminator: Dark Fate." It also arrives 30 years after his Christmas comedy "Jingle All the Way." Ken Jeong, Jane Krakowski, Liza Koshy and Kyle Mooney round out the cast.

A faith note

Ritchson, who also produces the film, is an outspoken Christian. He discusses the Bible and faith on his YouTube channel, InstaChurch. A thief handed a second chance at Christmas fits the season's themes of redemption.

No faith-based content review has been published yet. Parents may want to check a detailed content guide after the film's Dec. 2 debut.

"The Man with the Bag" streams on Prime Video Dec. 2.
