King Charles III is reportedly considering a thanksgiving service for Princess Diana as a way to bring Prince William and Prince Harry back together. The service would mark the 30th anniversary of her death next August. No official announcement has been made, and the claim comes from an unnamed source speaking to the Daily Mail.
According to the report, the service could follow the format of the 2007 service held at the Guards' Chapel at Wellington Barracks for Diana's 10th anniversary. That event featured her favorite music and a eulogy by Harry. The source also suggested William could deliver a reading, which the insider called far more dignified than appearing in documentaries about his mother.
Not everyone is convinced. Royal journalist Tom Sykes told Page Six a reunion between the brothers is "just not gonna happen." Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has said William has "washed his hands of" Harry.
The idea comes as Harry continues to say he wants peace with his family. In a May 2025 BBC interview, he said, "I would love reconciliation with my family," adding that life is precious. Harry has since met his father several times, including a confirmed July visit at Highgrove with Meghan and their children. The brothers did not see each other on that trip.
A service of thanksgiving is a faith-centered occasion, built around prayer, music and gratitude, and it offers a quiet setting where a family could come together in remembrance. For now, whether William and Harry would share that space remains unconfirmed, and the palace has not commented.
