Buckingham Palace has made clear that King Charles' private funds should not be used to pay for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's legal action against police, according to a palace source cited by multiple outlets.

Mountbatten-Windsor receives an annual stipend from the King's private money, the amount of which has not been disclosed. The palace source said it had been made clear that the money should not fund his judicial review. The source also said his legal defence is a matter for him and his lawyers, and that the palace plays no role in its strategy.

What the case is about

  • Mountbatten-Windsor is challenging whether Thames Valley Police acted lawfully when it obtained and used search warrants linked to his February arrest.
  • He was arrested on 19 February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, and has denied wrongdoing over his Epstein links.
  • A High Court hearing is due Thursday at 2 p.m. before Mr Justice Hilliard. It is expected to begin in private.
  • A judicial spokesperson said the hearing concerns an attempt by police to restrict access to court documents.

What police say

Thames Valley Police says its misconduct investigation continues, and that it is engaged in legal proceedings over warrants previously obtained from the Central Criminal Court.

Where the King stands

After the February arrest, the King said in a written statement that "the law must take its course."

It is not yet known whether Mountbatten-Windsor will attend the hearing.

As the case moves through the courts, JubileeCast encourages readers to pray for truth and justice, and for everyone affected.
