Andrew Garfield has settled the great Spider-Man debate his own way, and he did not put himself on top.
In a recent interview with Capital, the actor was asked to rank the three live-action Spider-Men: Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland and himself. According to Just Jared, Garfield placed Maguire first, Holland second and himself third.
Garfield, 43, said Maguire will always be his number one. He recalled practicing Maguire's lines back in drama school. He described Holland as the right Spider-Man for his own generation.
The three actors shared the screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which brought together Peter Parkers from different eras. The ranking comes as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Holland, keeps the character trending, with fans searching for details about the film and its ending.
Garfield's humble answer fits an actor who has also taken on some of Hollywood's most faith-driven roles. In 2016 he played Jesuit priest Father Rodrigues in Martin Scorsese's Silence. That same year he played Desmond Doss, the Seventh-day Adventist combat medic who refused to carry a weapon and saved dozens of soldiers in Hacksaw Ridge.
