Michael Strahan is speaking out about how he helped his daughter, Isabella, stay hopeful through brain cancer treatment, in a new interview with Healthline. The two shared their story at a fireside chat in New York City on Oct. 6, hosted by Real Chemistry and SMAC.

Isabella was diagnosed in October 2023 with medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor that develops at the back of the brain. She had emergency surgery to remove a 4-centimeter tumor, then two more surgeries and four rounds of chemotherapy. Her doctors declared her cancer-free in July 2024.

Strahan said the diagnosis hit him in an unexpected way. Before Isabella became a patient, he had appeared in hospital commercials delivering the message that no parent should have to hear their child has cancer. He told Healthline he was now living that line in real time.

Isabella said her family's support helped her through treatment, and Strahan said he cherishes the time they spent together. She is now back at USC, and he visits her when he is in Los Angeles during the NFL season.

The pair say they are sharing their story to raise awareness about brain cancer and offer hope to other families facing it.

When Isabella's diagnosis became public in 2024, Strahan said he believes people are never given more than they can handle. For many believers, that outlook of hope in hard seasons will feel familiar.
