Savannah Guthrie was absent from "Today" on Monday, and co-anchor Craig Melvin told viewers she is set to return Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to AOL and ComingSoon. No reason for her absence has been given.
Melvin ran Monday's broadcast in her place. The report also says Guthrie took a two-week break in September. She was away for about two months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home in early February, and she returned to the show on April 6.
Some of her recent time away has been explained as work. Co-anchors have said she was filming her upcoming "Wordle" game show. No such explanation has been given for Monday.
Guthrie has spoken about how hard it is to be at work. In June she said coming back was "really hard," according to USA Today. Nancy Guthrie remains missing, and investigators have not named a suspect, Men's Journal reported.
Guthrie has leaned on her faith throughout. The day after her mother vanished, she asked people to pray, calling her mother "God's precious daughter," CNN reported. The family continues to ask for prayers, and JubileeCast joins them in praying for Nancy's safe return.
