Jon Reddick was singing "No Fear" while facing news that put those words to a deeply personal test: his wife, Rebecca, had cancer. Now, the worship singer is sharing his gratitude for her recovery as another song, "Holding On (Praise God)," reaches listeners with a message he has lived through himself.

Speaking with Crosswalk Headlines, Reddick recalled learning about Rebecca's diagnosis while traveling. He credited both God's healing and the doctors who removed her cancer, declaring, "God has healed her." The experience, he explained, changed how his family listens and responds to other people facing hardship.

Rebecca was diagnosed with early-onset colon cancer in March 2025. Following successful surgery, a pathology report found that her lymph nodes were cancer-free. For Reddick, a father of seven, the uncertainty had brought private tears even as he continued leading audiences in songs about trusting God. In an earlier account, he acknowledged his own fear and praised his wife's strength throughout the ordeal.

That experience gives added weight to "Holding On (Praise God)," which encourages listeners to surrender burdens they cannot control. Reddick told Crosswalk that walking through illness and family loss had deepened his compassion, helping him recognize more clearly what others carry into their homes, churches, and everyday lives. His testimony connects worship with the difficult work of trusting God while circumstances remain uncertain.

The song has also become a major radio success. An October 6 announcement confirmed that "Holding On (Praise God)" had reached No. 1 across four Christian radio charts: Mediabase AC, Impressions, Activator, and Billboard AC. Written by Reddick, Matthew West, and Jeff Pardo, and produced by Pardo, the single pairs its message of perseverance with a call to prayer and surrender.

For listeners discovering the story behind the music, Reddick's family experience brings the songs into sharper focus. The singer encouraging others to place their fears before God has had to do the same beside his own wife-and his gratitude now carries the memory of that uncertainty.
