"Glee" Reboot Is Official: Lea Michele Returns, And Fans Recall The Show’s ‘Grilled Cheesus’ Faith Episode

Disney+ and Hulu are reviving "Glee," and Variety reports, citing multiple sources, that Lea Michele will return as Rachel Berry. No premiere date or full cast list has been announced as of publication.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy said in September that he and original writers Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan had finished a reboot script. He added that he had been in touch with about 10 original cast members. Two former cast members have also hinted at returning. Heather Morris, who played Brittany, posted that she is "back for more." Chord Overstreet, who played Sam, wrote, "Reunited and it feels so good!" Neither has given further details.

The original series ran on Fox from 2009 to 2015, and all six seasons are streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

For many Christian viewers, the show's best-known faith moment is "Grilled Cheesus," season 2, episode 3. Finn believes he sees Jesus in a grilled cheese sandwich and begins praying to it, while Kurt's father lies in a coma after a heart attack. Mercedes then brings Kurt to church, where the congregation's support moves him. The episode dealt with prayer, doubt, and family, and it still gets discussed today.

Plot details are being kept quiet for now.
