Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is making a definitive claim about Ken Urker's death while investigators have yet to announce a final cause. In an update to her anti-cyberbullying petition, she said she is certain her former partner did not die by suicide-a stronger statement than the uncertainty she expressed immediately after his passing.
Urker was found dead at his Louisiana home October 1, his 34th birthday. Page Six reported that the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office said the cause remained undetermined pending toxicology results. Blanchard's statement therefore represents her position, rather than an announced official conclusion.
The change in her wording is significant. Earlier this month, Blanchard told PEOPLE she believed Urker had overdosed but did not know whether it was intentional. In the updated petition, she acknowledges the pending results while asserting that suicide has been ruled out to her satisfaction. The reports reviewed do not establish what new information prompted that certainty.
Blanchard also emphasized that her campaign concerns the online harassment she says preceded his death. She alleges that hostile commentary damaged Urker's mental health and contributed to unhealthy coping involving drugs and alcohol. That is her account of his experience; it does not establish a medical cause of death or responsibility for it.
Her proposed "Kenan's Law" calls for social platforms to assess patterns of harassment, provide human review and meaningful appeals, and improve transparency. The petition seeks changes to how repeated reports are handled, rather than treating each complaint as an isolated incident. It is an advocacy proposal, not an enacted law.
The loss also leaves a young daughter without her father. Blanchard and Urker welcomed Aurora in December 2024, and Blanchard has pledged to ensure their child knows how deeply he loved her. In sharing the petition update, she thanked supporters for their prayers and said she would continue posting developments.
For now, the central question remains unanswered: what will the completed investigation establish? Blanchard has made her conviction public, but the pending official findings remain essential to understanding the circumstances of Urker's death.
