Leanne Gregory, a 36-year-old mother from Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, died in the Bahamas after her two young sons were swept out to sea while snorkelling. Both boys were rescued, and her husband, Nathan, credits her actions with saving them.
The family was on the island of Bimini on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Police said officers received a report shortly after 10 a.m. local time that a woman was unresponsive at the North Bimini Ferry Dock. She was given CPR and taken to a local clinic, where she was confirmed dead.
Nathan said the children had been snorkelling in shallow water while the family sorted their things on the beach. He believes a riptide pulled them out, and that both parents went into the sea to help. The holiday was an early celebration of the couple's 10th wedding anniversary, which falls in December.
In a Facebook post, Nathan described the loss as unimaginable. He said his sons "know Mum died an absolute hero." He also called Leanne "our foundation, our support." He has set up a GoFundMe page for his sons, and the family has since returned to the UK.
Jesus taught that there is no greater love than laying down one's life for others (John 15:13).
Leanne's story has touched many people, and JubileeCast keeps Nathan, their two sons, and their loved ones in prayer.
