Paul McCartney says he is "blown away" after hearing some of Céline Dion's parts for High in the Clouds. Dion will perform original songs written and composed by McCartney for the 3D animated feature, with Universal Music Group releasing the soundtrack worldwide.
Dion voices Sugartail, the mother of the central character. Himesh Patel voices Wirral, and Hannah Waddingham plays Gretsch. The voice cast also includes Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, Ringo Starr, and Jimmy Fallon.
It follows Wirral, a young squirrel who accidentally sparks a rebellion against an authoritarian owl who has banned music in her town. The film is adapted from McCartney's 2005 children's novel, and Oscar winner Michael Giacchino composed the score.
Gaumont has announced a French release date of Oct. 13, 2027. A U.S. date has not been confirmed.
Dion is also known for "The Prayer," a song many listeners hear as a prayer for guidance and protection, so this family-friendly project may appeal to her faith-minded fans.
