Nancy Guthrie has not been found, and no suspect has been named, nearly nine months after she vanished from her Tucson-area home. But there is a new detail. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a recent radio interview that evidence has gone to four specialized labs, including facilities in Florida, Kansas and San Francisco. Nanos and investigators also recently traveled to Florida to meet with a lab analyzing mixed DNA from the home.
Authorities have not announced a breakthrough from the testing. Reports say one lab is working to separate a DNA mixture from multiple people, while another specializes in difficult samples such as a hair without a root.
Retired FBI agent Maureen O'Connell, who is not part of the investigation, says the number of labs suggests more evidence exists than first disclosed. She told NewsNation she was "absolutely gobsmacked" that no genetic genealogy hit has come back yet. Her remarks are an outside opinion, not confirmation that DNA has identified anyone.
Is Nancy Guthrie alive? Has she been found? No. Two discoveries of human remains in the Tucson area have drawn attention, but neither has been linked to her case. Nanos has said, "This case is not cold."
The Guthrie family is offering a $1 million reward, and the FBI is offering up to $100,000. Anyone with information can call the Pima County Sheriff's Department at 520-351-4900 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
The family continues to ask for prayers, and JubileeCast joins them in praying for Nancy's safe return.
