The Greenville Police Department has closed its investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, following findings that her death was accidental. Authorities announced the conclusion on October 28, more than two months after the actress died in Greenville, South Carolina, at age 36.

According to the statement provided to Page Six and shared by the New York Post, a department representative said: "Based on the Medical Examiner's determination and the findings of the investigation, Hayden Panettiere's death has been ruled accidental. The Greenville Police Department has concluded its investigation."

The Greenville County Coroner's Office previously determined that Panettiere died from the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. An autopsy found no trauma that contributed to her death.

Panettiere was found unresponsive on August 16 at an apartment in Greenville's Judson Mill Lofts, where she had been staying temporarily. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead that afternoon.

The coroner's office had already closed its examination after establishing the cause and manner of death. Police continued a separate investigation before announcing its conclusion this week. No charges were filed, according to local reporting.

Panettiere was widely known for her performances in Heroes and Nashville, roles that made her a familiar presence to television audiences. The announcement marks the conclusion of the Greenville Police Department's inquiry into her death.
