Nicole Taylor, a member of the Christian country trio Taylor Red, formerly known as Red Roots, has died at 35. Her identical triplet sisters and bandmates, Natalie and Nika, announced her death in an emotional tribute that placed their Christian hope at the centre of their grief.
The family's official memorial confirms that Nicole died September 28, 2026, in Nashville. Her sisters publicly shared the news November 2, remembering the woman who had helped lead their lifelong musical partnership.
"She was our leader and our best friend," Natalie and Nika wrote. "We are heartbroken, but we know she is in Heaven and will see her again."
According to Country Rebel's account of their video tribute, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. Her sisters recalled that she responded to the diagnosis by expressing confidence that God could work through her suffering. They described a faith that continued through treatment and repeated recurrences, as she encouraged those around her while facing her own illness.
The tribute also included a recording of Nicole sharing her Christian testimony, allowing followers to hear the convictions that sustained her in her own voice.
For Christian music listeners, Nicole's story reaches back well before Taylor Red's social media success. As Red Roots, the sisters established themselves through a blend of country, Southern gospel and bluegrass, pairing family harmonies with instrumental performances. Their recordings included Red Roots, The Middle of Nowhere and Triplicity, with songs such as "Christian Country Girl," "God Shaped Hole" and "Lord I'm Listening" reflecting their gospel roots.
Their early ministry earned recognition within Christian music. Red Roots received the Favorite New Trio honour at the 2013 Singing News Fan Awards, and a January 2014 announcement from Daywind reported that five singles from their first two albums had reached the Singing News Top 40. The sisters also appeared on The American Bible Challenge.
The group adopted the name Taylor Red in 2018 and subsequently reached a broader audience through country music, touring and online videos. Their performance history included opening for Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, alongside established country artists. Nicole's legacy therefore spans both the Christian music community that first embraced the sisters and the wider audience that later discovered them.
A private funeral has already taken place. Those wishing to honour Nicole can visit the family's official memorial page, which directs donations to Samaritan's Purse, one of her favourite charities. The page also features Acts 20:24, a passage about completing one's ministry and testifying to God's grace-a fitting expression of the faith her sisters have chosen to foreground in remembering her.
