Hezekiah Walker 'Azusa The Next Generation' Debuted At No. 1 on iTunes Christian & Gospel Chart
Hezekiah Walker's newest album, 'Azusa The Next Generation,' debuted on June 11 and became an instant success working its way up to No. 1 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel chart.
The new album features Walkers' famous Love Fellowship Choir, a 200-member mass choir, in a collection of soulful praise and worship songs. It also features some big names in Gospel such as Timiney Figueroa-Caton (on 'More Than a Conqueror'), Brian Courtney Wilson (on 'Grace'), Stephanie Fisher Oplacio (on 'Amazing'), Donnie McClurkin (on 'Breakthrough'), Deitrick Haddon and John P. Kee.
'Azusa The Next Generation' marks Walker's 14th album and the first album that he has produced in five years. The album's success has been mainly generated through the success of his new lead single, 'Every Praise,' a passionate worship chant led by Walker.
"Azusa, it's a name of a street over in California. Back in 1906 a major revival broke out not that street that started all this," Walker explained in an interview posted by theHuffington Post.
Other songs on the album include a mixture of classic praise songs and newer numbers. The other tracks 'Break Every Chain,' 'I Feel Your Spirit,' 'More Than A Conqueror,' 'Lead Me To That Rock,' Breakthrough,' 'Grace,' 'Amazing,' 'Work In Your Favor' and 'No Greater Love.'
The new album was co- written and co-produced by Walker along with producer, Donald Lawrence.
Walker has received the success of his newest album with humbled excitement. June 19, he tweeted, "Wow #1 Billboard position I'm humbled thanks to all my supporters." This marks his first # 1 debut on Billboard, according to his Twitter feed.
