LG G Watch R Release Date: Other Specs and Features Revealed

There's no doubt LG is up against very tight competition, with Motorola's Moto 360, Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch and Sony Smartwatch- that's why we're on full alert with LG's latest follow up to its LG G Watch, the LG G Watch R.

In an unlisted video teaser, we already know LG's unveiling their latest wearable during IFA 2014 (September 5-10, Berlin) but we can't help but get a wee bit excited on what else we're in for.

Here's what we know so far:

It has a round face, a step counter and a compass. Watching the trailer, it also looks like it has a crown, which is a definite nod to traditional class. If the rumor about LG collaborating with premium watchmakers s true, then we can expect LG G Watch R's got topnotch design that would give other wearables a run for their money. A Qualcomm chip is also part of the rumor mill, which we are very psyched about.

We also know that its predecessor runs on Android Wear OS and came with changeable straps and a waterproof screen, so we're pretty much looking forward to the same (if not better) specs. Plus, the previous square-faced LG G Watch ran on Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity so it looks like the LG G Watch R's bound to have similarities but a very different face and design. We also hear there's a shift from LCD technology to plastic OLED display.

When it comes to burning a hole in your pocket, unless it's far superior to the round-faced Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, the LG G Watch R will be around the $250 mark.

Now, all we've to do is to wait for IFA 2014. It won't be long until we have another (hopefully) ace wearable around our wrists.
