TGIF to Come Back in a Two-Hour Long Time Slot on ABC
Move over Throwback Thursday, Flashback Friday is taking over! That is in the form of ABC's TGIF two-hour lineup. Those who have lived in the early 90's will remember the TGIF line up on ABC every Friday night - two house of fun, family-friendly shows for family bonding time. By the way, in case you're wondering, TGIF stands for Thank Goodness It's Funny.
It was about 25 years ago in 1989 when it officially made its debut in the small screen and had a line-up of shows including Full House, Perfect Strangers, Just the Ten of Us and Family Matters.
Here are just some of the hit series you may or may not remember, that once graced the spotlight of TGIF:
Full House ran in TGIF for fifty episodes, equivalent to two whole seasons, from September 22, 1989 to May 31, 1991. Who could ever forget the Tanner family's Hawaiian adventure anyway?
Perfect Strangers is another memorable TGIF show where it ran for sixty-one episodes. Although it was already in its fifth season, Perfect Strangers still managed to bring its audience to the legendary island of Mypos.
Family Matters was another well-known TGIF sitcom that ran from September 22, 1989 to May 9, 1997, with a total of 193 episodes in its run.
Dinosaurs, a Jim Henson project, ran in TGIF for 27 episodes, where it tackled topics like sexual harassment and assisted suicide - with a family friendly twist, of course. Oh and that baby dinosaur was cute and funny too!
Unlike the others, Going Places lived a short life in TGIF with only 19 episodes in its run.
