MacBook 12-inch Retina vs. MacBook Pro Retina, Comparison: Performance insights and updates

The MacBook Pro with Retina has taken the market and loyal Apple products users by storm, firstly it packs heat in as far as performance is concerned and as expected it has the looks that could kill. Couple that with a much praised battery life and you would not be blamed for concluding that apple has out-done itself and produced their best product so far. Originally rumored to be released with the recent new iPhones, the 12-inch MacBook Retina has been delayed and some think it may be because of the new Intel chipset that Apple is introducing.

Toe-to-toe, what we know so far about the 12-inch MacBook Retina is that it will significantly be smaller than the MacBook Pro Retina, which comes in 13 inch and 15 inch versions. The 12-inch MacBook model will be lighter than the 13 inch and have more convenience when carrying around. The screen has been maintained as retina with the pro using Intel Iris Graphics 5100 for display rendering, while the upcoming 12 inch MacBook will use Nivida tech, allowing for smoother graphic rendering and greater gaming performance. The processing power of the 13pro is paced at core i5 standards, with 8GB of ram being a default in the top shelf offer from Apple Inc. this is little compared to the new Intel Core M processors that will be used in the new Air. Memory wise, the apple culture of introducing various memory steps available for upgrade shall be passed on to the 12 inch MacBook retina with a range of 250GB to as much as 1TB. The same size storage options existed in the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina, to note is that apple has also maintained the use of Solid State Drives.

Design wise, the weight reduction effect of the 12 inch MacBook Air has greatly been caused or attributed to the fan-less technique that will see the machine doing away with use of fans to cool the processor and other components and rather opting to use heat-sinks as the only method to keep the machine at optimum operating temperature. This also means there will be no moving parts in the 12 inch innovation.
