Dying Light news, release date: Dying Light for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC out by January 27

Dying Light news: Zombie apocalypse game Dying Light for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC will be out by January 27, 2015, according to Polish video game developer Techland, which made the announcement via its Twitter account. This will be a few days earlier than the expected February launch date.

Dying Light publisher, Warner Bros., shared that Dying Light can be played in co-op mode with four people.

"Up to 4 players will be able to team up to face the dangers of the day and the terrors of the night -- two distinct sides of 'Dying Light's' gameplay," said Warner Bros. in a prepared statement.

Told from a first person point of view, Dying Light players explore the game's open world as survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Equipped with weapons such as a spiked baseball bat, a pistol, and an electric ax, players then have to use their wits and reflexes to swim, climb and move from one rooftop to another to battle the undead.

Dying Light was originally conceptualized as a sequel to the game Dead Island, but was developed as a standalone game instead.

The Dying Light website is now accepting pre-orders for $59.99. These will come with a free DLC mode: Be the Zombie, wherein a player can invade other games as a Night Hunter, dubbed as the ultimate monster out to get humans.
