Earnest Pugh To Be Honored By Howard University School of Divinity
Earnest Pugh, best known for the #1 gospel radio hits "I Need Your Glory" and "Rain On Us," is headed to the nation's capital this week for The Howard University School of Divinity's third annual Alumni Association Awards Banquet. It kicks off with a special live concert by Earnest Pugh on Saturday, April 25 @ 7:00 PM at The Berean Baptist Church in honor of Howard University School of Divinity Professor Robert G. Childs' 30th anniversary as the pastor of The Berean Baptist Church. The concert proceeds go to the Alumni Association's Scholarship Fund.
Dr. Pugh lived in the DMV area for over a decade until his recent move to Houston, TX where he's the Worship Pastor at The Lighthouse Church. While in the DMV, Pugh was a member of the music department at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Ft. Washington, M.D. and earned a master's of divinity degree from Howard University's School of Divinity while continuing his successful recording career. Last year he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Divinity in Christian Counseling from The Institute for Teaching God's Word in Rockdale, TX.
After an early Sunday morning performance during the 7:45 AM worship service at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, Dr. Pugh will head over to the Howard University main campus where he'll be honored with an Alumni Award for the Arts from the Howard University School of Divinity Alumni Association. "I view this as one of the greatest accomplishments in my life to be honored by my alma mater," he adds. "My tenure at HUSD was instrumental in shaping, molding, and developing me into the man, preacher and artist that I am today."
The Alumni Awards Banquet begins with a red carpet arrival for the honorees followed by a 3:00 p.m. reception, a 4:00 p.m. dinner and then a full Earnest Pugh concert beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Armour J. Blackburn University Center, 2397 Sixth Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20059. The banquet honors distinguished alumni for achievements in their respective fields and raises funds for the Howard University School of Divinity Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
